The castle free from the scaffoldings.

The Kilcash castle looks in good conditions, but when we tried to visit it major works were in progress and the castle was totally surrounded by the scaffoldings and the access was prohibited.
The castle was one of the residences of the influent and powerful Butler family.
It was once occupied by James Tuchet, 3rd Earl of Castlehaven, a noted Confederate Catholic commander during the 1641-1652 war, and he who wrote his memoirs at this castle.
What we saw here is that the building still has the original plaster on the outer walls, a whitish plaster, and this shows that the grey stone buildings that we see today were finished on their external walls.
The castle was originally owned by the Wall family, the same family that owned the Wall castle.
