The ruins of the church are on a low mound enclosed in a stone wall.

The first church mentioned in the area was in 1240, and had a castle attached to it. A mill was also associated with the site.
The name Portnascully comes from the Irish Scullys Port which means "Scully's Fortress".
Today we see the ruins of a church with an ancient graveyard. After the Reformation this church was used for the Protestant worship.

The ruins and the graveyard are on a raised ground and enclosed into a stone wall.
What remains today is the east (100°) wall with a small window, and the chancel arch. It seems that the ground have raised a lot since the time the church was built.
Most of the burials in the graveyard date from the mid-18th century.

This church isn't marked on the OS Map.
