The opposite entrance of the souterrain.

Clogher stone fort is also known as Cashelmore. It's on a low mound completely surrounded by tall trees and it's an excellent example of Irish stone fort with souterrains. It has an inner diameter of about 30 metres on the north-south axis with the wall being 2.30 metres high on the north side and 4.20 metres thick. This makes for an outer diameter of nearly 40 metres.
Inside the cashel there are 5 stepped ramps to the top of the wall. At south-southwest (195°) there's the entrance to a souterrain which runs underground for several metres and emerges at west (280°). Near this exit there's the entrance to another souterrain.
As it happened in other places, we found thousands of midges that were going to eat us alive!
