The north-northeast side.

An early monastery associated with St. Colum was at this place. It seems that St. Patrick lest Colum here, with the ritual book of Patrick and his bell in the 5th century.
This cross, possibly dating from the 10th century, has been made from two different fragments of crosses, with the shaft from one cross and the head from another cross. The junction point can be clearly seen along with the different type and colour of sandstone. In the centre of the head on the southeast (105°) side there's the scene of the crucifixion, the panels below show scenes from the New Testament, from the Annunciation to Christ's death. The other side has scenes from the Old Testament. Other decorations are on the minor sides.
The cross is 3.85 metres tall, 68 centimetres wide at the base of the shaft and 1.60 metres wide at the arms.
It stands on a plinth which is 80 centimetres high, that in turn stands on a concrete and cobble stones base around 25 centimetres high. The total height of the monument is 4.90 metres. The upper half of the ring around the head is missing.
The cross stands at a junction on Pomeroy Road. It's very weathered and the figures on it are fading away. In 2001 a new copy of this cross has been made and erected in the graveyard behind it. In the same graveyard there are several wonderful gravestones, as old as 300 years, and an obelisk-like memorial to Hugh O'Neill, 3rd Earl of Ulster.
