The red and yellow stick is 1 metre long, for scale.

This monolithic and uncarved stone cross stands outside the gate of the Cooley church graveyard. One weird feature is the pierced hole above the ring of the head.
The cross is 2.82 metres tall, 39 centimetres wide at the shaft and 79 centimetres wide at the arms, and 19 centimetres thick. It stands on a plinth which is 76 centimetres high and 3.15 wide, with four steps on its southwest (200°) side.
The cross lean to the southwest (225°) by 7°.

Because of it uncarved style, it is that this cross is older than the nearby churches and graveyard.

Our first visit to this cross was on May 6th, 2002.
