The most beautiful grave slab in the graveyard.

In the graveyard of the church in Taghshinny there is a number of ancient grave slabs. One of them is the most fascinating and it seems it dates from early medieval times, thus giving a clue of the usage of these grounds in more ancient times.
The early church at this site could have been associated with the monastic site at Inchcleraun, an island on Lough Ree to the west.
The present churchyard has an oval enclosure that may confirm the presence of an early medieval monastic settlement.
