From the entrance of the graveyard on the hill.

After so many years we finally managed to see the ruins of this church.
The first time we saw them was when we visited Dunmoe Castle on May 3rd, 2006. They were just a fascinating ruin far away.

The church was built at the beginning of the 13th century and stands within a rectangular graveyard overlooking the River Boyne. It was dedicated to the Blessed Virgin.
All that remains of this church is a ruinous bell tower to the west (265°). From the ground level of the tower, the 9 steps of a mural staircase lead to the upper floor above the vaulted ceiling.
From this point of view to the east it is possible to see the outline of the long church. Only the side sections of the east wall survive, on the ground it is possible to see how other parts of the walls have crumbled down.
In the tower there's a small window to the west of the first floor that frames the ruins of Dunmoe Castle in the distance.

Within the perimeter of the building several burials have their place. Other nice burials are in the graveyard.
