The gatehouse seen from the east-southeast. This is the inside face. The upper floor chamber had two windows on this side.

This old and ruinous Gatehouse stands at the west end of Golden village and it might have been part of the Golden castle that is just 400 metres east, on the River Suir.
The Gatehouse has a wide arched passageway aong the axis west-east (270°-90°), with a chamber above. The chamber is roofless and misses the west wall.
On the north side of the passageway there's a narrow and steep staircase to the upper floor, but it's impassable due to birds nests and droppings.
