The Long Cairn is how the site is called on the OSNI Map. It wasn't on our list of places to vosot this year, but when we saw it we decided to stop.
As the name suggests, this tomb is really long, about 27 metres long. And it's 11 metres wide.
It's in a private field with three runs of barbed wire all around.
This was a court tomb, but the court has been lost. It is aligned on a east-west (85°-265°) axis, with the east side against the road. On this side there are the tallest and largest stones of the monument. This is also the side where the court could have been and I think that the construction of the road destroyed it.
All that is still visible is the kerb outline all around the tomb. The area inside is filled with soil and covered with grass, so it looks like a giant rectangular mound with a crown of stones along the perimeter. Some smaller stones poke out of the mound, especially towards the west end of it.
