The beautiful Passage Tomb L seen from the east-southeast.

Just like Passage Tomb T is the focal point for Carnbane East tombs group, the Passage Tomb L is the cairn of major interest at Carnbane West.
The mound has a complete kerb made of 41 large stones over a diameter of about 42 metres. The present entrance has been recontructed after the excavations in the 19th century, and now there is a V-shaped open corridor to a gate that allows visitors to peep inside but not to enter. The open corridor is long at least half the length of the original passage. The entrance faces east-southeast (110°).
The burial chambers inside the tomb are seven and are organized like an open space divided by orthostats around the perimeter of the area at the end of the gallery. One of these chambers, the second from the right, has a stone basin under which, in 1865, 900 pieces of charred bones and 48 human teeth were found.
The orthostats that flank the entrance are decorated with spiral motifs or with small cupmarks.
